Under guidance of higher-level Stationary Engineer, monitors and operates all current
and future Utility Plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner including but not limited to boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, water treatment and associated equipment. Troubleshoots, maintains, and cleans plant equipment. Completes logs and record keeping. Follows operating, safety and environmental standards. Works a 12-hour shift and is subject to emergency call.

  • Takes plant readings, monitors utility system performance, conducts water testing and makes changes as necessary to provide reliable and efficient plant operations.

  • Responds to alarms and utility system conditions

  • Performs troubleshooting and inspection activities.

  • Completes startup, shutdown and Lock Out/Tagout of equipment.

  • Reviews plant SOP’s and other training material directed toward passing the State of Ohio third class stationary engineer license exam.

  • Operates current and future utility plant equipment including but not limited to boilers, turbines, chillers, air compressors, emergency generators and associated equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Good mechanical comprehension.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.

  • Could involve some lifting.

  • State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator license preferred.

  • Successful completion of a 125-hour steam boiler and steam turbine operation

    course approved by the superintendent preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
